Benjamin Esposito (played by Ricardo Darín) is a retired prosecutor whose decades of judicial experience have provided him with a wealth of material. However, a brutal rape and murder case from many years ago continues to haunt him, and he hopes to publish a book about it to fulfill his wish. Twenty-five years ago, the beautiful 23-year-old schoolteacher Liliana Coloto (played by Carla Quevedo) fell in love with the bank employee Riducca Morales (played by Pablo Rago), but just as they were discussing marriage, Liliana was brutally raped and murdered in her apartment. At that time, judicial corruption was rampant, and in a rush to close the case, Benjamin's colleagues even considered framing an immigrant as the culprit. Perhaps shaken by the crime scene of Liliana's death, Benjamin obsessively starts to investigate, becoming entangled in a confusing web of love and suspicion… This film won the Best Foreign Language Film at the 82nd Academy Awards in 2010 and received the Audience Award, Best Actor Award (Ricardo Darín), Best Director Award, Best Music Award, and Special Jury Prize at the 2009 Havana Film Festival.
