Elliot Richardson (Brendan Fraser), a tech consultant at a computer company, is honest yet foolish. He is particularly clueless when it comes to love; though he has fallen for his beautiful coworker, Alison (Frances O'Connor), he is too shy to express his feelings. One night, after being encouraged by colleagues at a bar, Elliot finally gathers the courage to propose to Alison, only to be met with rejection and ridicule. At this moment, a mysterious and alluring woman in red (Elizabeth Hurley) appears before the heartbroken Elliot. It turns out that this woman is the embodiment of the devil, who tempts Elliot with the promise that if he gives up his soul, he can have seven wishes granted. Eager to marry Alison, Elliot quickly agrees to the devil’s terms. Soon, he gets his wish and ends up with the woman of his dreams, becoming a wealthy mogul in South America.
