The story begins in the childhood of two young boys. Brian (played by Brady Corbet) is raped by his baseball coach at the age of eight, leaving him with an everlasting psychological trauma that becomes a permanent nightmare in his mind. The other boy, Neil (played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt), is lured home by the coach and sexually abused, which distorts Neil's perception and leads him to become immersed in such homosexual activities, ultimately becoming a gay hustler in his hometown. At this time, Brian finds a photo of himself with Neil from their days in the same baseball team and uses it as a clue to locate Neil's home. Unfortunately, Neil has just gone to New York in search of a new life. Thus, Brian keeps in touch with Neil through Neil's good friends. On Christmas Eve, the two finally reunite at the home of the coach who abused them both, and Neil shares the true story of what happened back then...
