In the 1950s South Africa, during the enforcement of apartheid. The film tells the story of the special relationship between Miriam (played by Lisa Ray) and Amira (played by Sheetal Sheth) during such a particular era. Miriam's marriage is unhappy; she discovers her husband is having an affair with her sister-in-law, and she can only endure it silently. Until the cowboy-clad Amira appears in her repressive life, and the two beautiful women fall in love at first sight. The rebellious Amira is a staunch opponent of apartheid, which is precisely what attracts Miriam to her. The delicate and subtle emotions between the two women are conveyed in every light touch of their fingertips and every gaze of their eyes. They transcend not only the barriers of gender but also the boundaries of race. The film is directed by Shamim Sarif, based on her own novel of the same name.
