The story takes place in the year 1929 in the inland area of Alice Springs, Northern Territory, Australia. Indigenous cattleman Sam (played by Hamilton Morris) lives here with his employer—a white veteran named Harry (played by Ewen Leslie), who returned from World War I. Harry is violent and abuses his workers, ultimately being shot dead by Sam in self-defense. Subsequently, Sam and his pregnant wife embark on a difficult journey of escape. They traverse the magnificent deserts of the inland, cleverly using their survival skills to evade the lawmen who relentlessly pursue them. This journey of escape is fraught with danger and hardship, as they must overcome the brutality of nature and the cruelty of their pursuers. However, in order to protect his wife's health and their unborn child, Sam ultimately makes the decision to turn himself in, accepting the fate of interrogation. In a society based on white supremacy, will the interrogation be able to reveal true fairness and justice?
