In an accident, Will (Jack Nicholson) hits a wild wolf with his car. When he gets out to check the situation, the wolf bites him. Will doesn't take the injury seriously, but since the accident, some strange changes begin to occur in him. His senses become unusually sharp, and his temper grows increasingly irritable. All signs indicate that Will seems to be slowly turning into a wolf. Animal research expert Alexias (Om Puri) confirms Will's suspicions and gives him a talisman that can temporarily help him control his wildness. Will's wife Charlotte (Kate Nelligan) has died, torn apart at the throat, and Will's friend Laura (Michelle Pfeiffer) provides an alibi for him. When Laura finds herself in danger, Will does not hesitate to transform into a werewolf to save her.
