In the late stages of the Vietnam War, Captain Willard (Martin Sheen) is ordered to ascend the Mekong River to find Colonel Kurtz (Marlon Brando), who has established his own kingdom in Cambodia after detaching from the U.S. military, and either bring him back or kill him. Kurtz was once a hero of the U.S. forces, celebrated for his achievements. However, one day, he suddenly disappeared. Subsequently, intelligence reports indicated that he had established his own kingdom in Cambodia with his own army, specifically opposing the U.S. military. Willard and a few soldiers travel up the river, witnessing various atrocities and killings, and observing the psychological distortions experienced by both U.S. soldiers and locals during the prolonged war, leading Willard to profound shock. Eventually, Willard is captured by the locals in Kurtz's kingdom in Cambodia and meets Kurtz. Surprisingly, Kurtz desires death and instructs Willard to bomb the place to the ground…
