The story takes place in a mountainous area of North China. Unemployed Ben Shan (played by Zhao Benshan) unexpectedly meets the melancholic Mu Du (played by Shi Guoqing). The two post an advertisement in the county town: Shanmu Multi-Functional Co., Ltd. offers services for weddings, funerals, massage, beauty, and makeup. In no time, customers flock in, but they know nothing about the services promoted in the ad; the cries of the customers being massaged sound like pigs being slaughtered, and the double eyelid surgeries rely mostly on drawing. Those who came for fortune-telling were left completely confused. On the second day of opening, someone came looking for them to settle accounts, and they fled in a hurry. They escaped to the countryside, where they took on a commission for a village chief's grandson's hundred-day celebration. Ben Shan also took on the task of arranging the marriage between Aunt Zhang (played by Chen Lizhong) and Aunt Wang (played by Huang Suying).
