James Bond (Timothy Dalton) and his friend Leiter are tracking drug lord Sanchez in South America, but the cunning Sanchez escapes them, and Leiter falls into Sanchez's trap—a shark tank. Although Leiter ultimately survives, he loses both legs. Bond's superior orders him to stop the investigation, but driven by revenge, Bond insists on continuing his pursuit and has his unique "license to kill" taken away. Without the support of the intelligence agency, Bond decides to go solo. When Bond heads to a nightclub in Panama to capture Sanchez, who is gathering there, he is intercepted by an agent from Hong Kong and taken to a rendezvous with the British intelligence agency. Cunning Sanchez then sends armed men to blow up their meeting place. Fortunately, Bond survives the explosion, vowing that Sanchez will pay in blood for his deeds!
