This comedy by Carl Theodor Dreyer traces the trajectory of emotional metamorphosis and demands exaggerated twists and performance styles in its comedic expression. His simplicity ranges from the office of "The President" to Mrs. Marguerite's dwelling, tending towards unpretentiousness. There is also the beginning of the depiction of appearance. The con artist in the film ultimately cannot resist the pangs of conscience and the emotional barrier created by a false marriage with his girlfriend. Interestingly, the deceived elderly woman has already sensed his ill intent but does not regard him as a villain. Rather, external forces ultimately lead to internal fulfillment.
