In a dream, Ah Bao (played by Wu Jing Tao) sits on the back seat of his father's bicycle, holding a windmill in one hand and hugging tightly with the other, but the beautiful dream shatters. The down-and-out father, Zhou Changsheng (played by Aaron Kwok), has a bad gambling habit, which his mother, Ah Lian (played by Yang Caini), can no longer endure and decides to leave but is brought back. To save their already broken marriage, the father naïvely arranges for the whole family to take a cruise vacation, while the mother seizes the opportunity to leave home for good.
Amid their poverty, Zhou Changsheng is also pursued by loan sharks for debts. After a series of setbacks, he contemplates abandoning Ah Bao, but before he can leave, the debt collectors break his legs. The father and son embark on a path of escape, with the injured father unable to earn money, forcing Ah Bao to borrow money and even steal. One time, when Ah Bao fails at stealing, the timid father is powerless to save him... How will the reunion of this father and son unfold?
