Major Samar Anand (played by Shahrukh Khan) is an expert in mine clearance and bomb disposal, holding his own defusing record in the military. His daily work takes him on the edge of life and death, facing it with calmness, yet he never wears protective gear. He accidentally saves a young girl, Akira Rai (played by Anushka Sharma), and the love story remembered in a diary captivates her deeply. Using her internship at the Discovery Channel, Akira embarks on a two-week storytelling documentation of Samar, gradually delving into his narrative. It turns out that years ago, the impoverished young Samar, while in London as a street singer, crossed paths with wealthy girl Meera Talwar (played by Katrina Kaif), and his beautiful singing captured her heart. Already engaged, Meera hopelessly falls in love with him. However, the devout Christian Meera prays to God that if Samar can survive his accident, they should never meet again. Surviving the incident causes Samar to lose his beloved Meera, leading him to challenge God—either let him die or bring Meera back to him. Thus, Samar returns to India, beginning a perilous military life. However, in 2012, he returns to London for Akira's documentary and suffers another accident, resulting in amnesia that brings his beloved Meera back into his life...
