Three stories related to dogs, three segments of poignant lives. Octavio (Gael Garcia Bernal) lives with his mother and brother and sister-in-law. His brother Amiro (Marco Perez) is fooling around with women, works in a supermarket during the day, and robs the supermarket at night, being quite violent towards his wife Susana (Vanessa Bauche) and children. Octavio gradually falls in love with Susana. In order to elope with her, he brings his dog "Geppy" to participate in underground dog fights, winning a lot of money. However, just before the day of their planned elopement, Amiro and Susana leave with the children, taking away his hard-earned money. In a fit of rage, Octavio challenges his old rival to one last fight; the opponent, blinded by anger, shoots and injures "Geppy". Octavio stabs the opponent and escapes in a car, only to have an accident. His and his family's lives are forever changed. The car that crashed into Octavio's belongs to model Valeria (Goya Toledo), whose lover Daniel (Alvaro Guerrero) has just left his wife, and they begin living together. The accident severely impacts her career, and the loss of her pet dog "Mickey" has further devastated her mentally, plunging her life into hardship. At the accident scene, a homeless man named Martin takes "Geppy". In his youth, Martin abandoned his wife and daughter to pursue his ideals by joining a guerrilla group, and after getting out of prison, he becomes a professional killer. However, he still harbors the dream of the ordinary father, hoping for his daughter’s forgiveness. By chance, he has an opportunity to meet his daughter, but he is unable to face her.
