Years after their divorce, painter Lao Bai (played by Xu Zheng) meets Ms. Li (played by Ma Yili), who is also divorced and has a child, through a friend. Lao Bai falls head over heels for Ms. Li at first sight, but she seems hesitant about this relationship and has been stalling. Lao Bai runs an art class at home, teaching adults how to paint, and Gloria (played by Ni Hongjie) is one of his students. Although the passionate and vivacious Gloria is married, her husband is often abroad and rarely comes home; she appears to have feelings for Lao Bai that go beyond those of a teacher and student. Bei Bei (played by Wu Yue) is Lao Bai's ex-wife. Though they have been divorced for many years and it was Bei Bei who betrayed Lao Bai, his mother still hopes they might reconcile one day. A story unfolds in a Shanghai lane involving one man and three women.
