This film is adapted from Michael Zadoorian's novel of the same name, telling the story of an elderly couple suffering from serious illnesses as they travel in an old RV from Massachusetts to Hemingway's home, reflecting on their lives along the way. John is a literature teacher and a devoted Hemingway fan. Despite Alzheimer's disease diminishing his memory, making him forget his wife's and children's names, he can still recite all of Hemingway's works, with "The Old Man and the Sea" being his favorite. Due to his wife Ella's severe illness requiring hospitalization, John must enter a nursing home, facing a future of permanent separation from the woman he has spent a lifetime with. Therefore, they make a wild decision to drive the RV named "Leisure Seeker" south from Massachusetts, recalling the vacations they took with their children in the 70s, with the destination being Hemingway's home in Key West.
