Hu Xueji (played by Wang Zuxian) is a fox spirit, protected and served by the fox mother, the nine-tailed pipa spirit (played by Yao Wei). Wei Shilang (played by Li Weiqiang) is born into a family that makes a living by selling fox fur, and he is a thorn in the side of the fox mother. The fox mother sends Hu Xueji to seduce and kill Wei Shilang to avenge her grievances; however, Hu Xueji is touched by Wei Shilang's sincerity and kindness and cannot help but fall in love with him. The Hunter King (played by Wu Ma)'s friend is killed by the fox demon, and before dying, he entrusts his regrets to the Hunter King. With his friend's wishes in mind, the Hunter King becomes immovable against the fox demon. One day, he meets Wei Shilang and wishes to take him as a disciple, planning to jointly confront Hu Xueji. Little do they know, Wei Shilang and Hu Xueji have already fallen for each other. Meanwhile, Hu Xueji suffers punishment from the fox mother for failing to complete her task.
