A modern version of the Cinderella story. Sam Montgomery (played by Hilary Duff) grows up on her father's fairy tales, only to find herself living the life of Cinderella. After her father's death, the insults and mistreatment from her stepmother and stepsisters make her life unbearable. She dreams of getting into Princeton University to escape this filthy little world, and confides her dreams and troubles to an intimate online friend, who becomes her emotional support and her prince charming. The Halloween encounter shatters Gina's dreams. Her online friend turns out to be the well-known handsome athlete Austin (played by Chad Michael Murray) at school. One is a plain, dull girl, the other is a shining star. Fortunately, Gina is in disguise and isn't recognized by Austin. The two are such an odd match, and a flustered Gina runs away, accidentally leaving behind her phone. Just like the story after the glass slipper is found by the prince, Austin searches for his Cinderella using the phone, while Gina cannot believe that she could be as lucky as Cinderella. Thus, this romantic tale is bound to be filled with twists and heartfelt ups and downs.
