The girl, an eight-year-old named Mei Gou, has to take her blind singer sister Jing Jing (played by Fang Si Yu) to a teahouse to sing every day. The new musician Zhu Gao (played by Zhao Yi Lan) is female but behaves and dresses in a masculine way. Mei Gou develops a vague affection for Zhu Gao, but Zhu Gao's love is for her sister. Shui Lian (played by Lu Yi Jing), when young, chose to marry the gay A Yan as a cover. As she grows older and her partner A Hai is no longer alive, A Yan, who is infected with AIDS and has been betrayed by his lover, turns to her, his legal wife.
