Alice (Heather Graham) and Klaus (Ulrich Thomsen) have a marriage that is essentially over. By chance, she meets a rough-edged man named Adam (Joseph Fiennes), and they quickly fall in love. From the fulfillment of lust to emotional dependency, she finds it hard to extricate herself. Consequently, Alice finally confronts her husband, and Klaus, who has been kept in the dark, erupts in rage; they decide to divorce. Later, Alice learns from a close friend that Klaus hasn't been able to let her go, which gives her a tinge of regret.
