Alice (Heather Graham) and Klaus (Ulrich Thomsen) have a marriage that is essentially over. By chance, she meets a rough-edged man named Adam (Joseph Fiennes), and they quickly fall in love. From the fulfillment of lust to emotional dependency, she finds it hard to extricate herself. Consequently, Alice finally confronts her husband, and Klaus, who has been kept in the dark, erupts in rage; they decide to divorce. Later, Alice learns from a close friend that Klaus hasn't been able to let her go, which gives her a tinge of regret. However, she soon discovers that her ex-husband is now cohabiting with her friend, which makes her extremely angry. Alice accepts Adam's marriage proposal but still harbors reservations about his explosive temper. Luckily, her sister Deborah (Natascha McElhone) helps to soothe her, and Alice gradually finds peace. In their conversations, she sees photos of Adam rock climbing in the snow-capped mountains and unexpectedly discovers her husband’s hidden secret...
