Newly appointed inspector Remont and his assistant Amy are tasked with investigating an internal corruption case within the police department when they uncover a more sinister criminal network involving esteemed officer Peck. Peck is actually a very insidious person; while pretending to be friendly with Remont, he is also sowing discord between Remont and his wife. The investigation reveals that Peck has many women, and all the police officers who are close to him are very wealthy. Suspected of corruption, Stredge calls his wife Penny to arrange a deal with Remont, while Penny is romantically involved with Peck. Peck then orders Stredge to be assassinated. In reality, Peck has been acting as a hired killer; just as he is about to take on another murder job, Remont and Amy arrive at the scene but fail to catch him. Later, he kills his employer and goes to intimidate Remont's wife, Catherine. Remont arrives just in time, and a brutal fight ensues.
