The film tells the story set in Sri Lanka, where the civil war is nearing its end, and countless refugees are waiting to leave this war-torn land. In order to apply for political asylum more easily, young woman Yalini (played by Kalieaswari Sriniv) and former Tamil Tiger fighter Dipa (played by Jesuthasan Antonythasan), along with a 9-year-old girl Elaya (played by Claudine Vinasitha) who has lost her parents, pose as a family and start a new life in the suburbs of Paris, France. Dipa finds a job as a building manager in this poverty-stricken area, while Yalini, who does not speak French, works as a domestic helper in a household. "Daughter" Elaya begins attending a nearby school. Life seems to be improving, but the suburbs of Paris, filled with violence, drugs, and crime, are not destined to be the peaceful haven they seek. When fate becomes unchangeable, Dipa has no choice but to use his familiar methods to protect this "family" of three strangers who rely on each other.
