In his early years, widowed and raising two sons, Old Liu (Zhu Xu) has spent a lifetime running a bathhouse, becoming a top figure in Beijing's bathing industry. His eldest son, Daming (Pu Cunxin), has been away for many years, while the only one by his side is his foolish second son, Erming (Jiang Wu). As the bathhouse business gradually declines, Old Liu feels overwhelming despair; fortunately, he still has a group of old friends who can't seem to leave the bathhouse. One day, Daming suddenly returns, shocking Old Liu. It turns out Daming mistakenly thought his father had passed away after receiving a postcard from Erming and hurried back home. However, faced with his unharmed but aging father, his clueless younger brother, and the dilapidated bathhouse, Daming has no intention of staying; he just wants to leave quickly. Just as Daming is about to depart, Old Liu falls ill, and reluctantly, Daming puts down his luggage to start taking care of his father, brother, and the bathhouse. Gradually, he begins to try to understand his father and feels moved.
