This film depicts King Naresuan, the most revered great king of Thailand, whose deeds are widely legendary. Born in 1555, he ruled until 1605. In 1592, during an extraordinary battle in Suphanburi, he killed the Burmese prince and freed his people from Burmese rule. To commemorate his great achievements, the Thai people built a 72-meter-high stupa in Ayutthaya. In the 16th century, Naresuan, the son of King Maha Thammaracha of the Ayutthaya Kingdom, was captured by the Hongsawadee Kingdom (now Myanmar) as a hostage and grew up there. Returning to his homeland in 1571, Naresuan laid a new foundation for the Ayutthaya Kingdom with his outstanding leadership. However, the new king of the Hongsawadee Kingdom, Nandabayin, had his eyes on Naresuan and wanted to eliminate him. In 1590, after the death of King Naresuan's father, he successfully ascended to the throne and declared the independence of the Ayutthaya Kingdom, declaring war on the Hongsawadee Kingdom. The Minister of Military Affairs in "The Princess Who Ran Away" plays the role of King Naresuan's personal physician in the film.
