As Malta's fishing industry declines, Jess Mark, born into a family of fishermen, is compelled to take risks to support his wife and children by engaging in black market fishing. The film employs a strong realism style, exploring various social issues from the perspective of local fishermen, skillfully intertwining these discussions within a deeply moving family story, revealing the tragic truths behind the Mediterranean's beautiful scenery. Several characters, including the male lead, are played by local fishermen, who deliver authentic and natural performances. This film is the first Maltese film to premiere at the Sundance Film Festival and eventually won the Jury Special Prize in the World Cinema section at the 2021 Sundance Film Festival.
