During World War II, German soldiers are killed in a Romanian village occupied by the Nazis. The German army orders the villagers to turn over the murderer by the next day, or they will execute ten prominent villagers. In a desperate moment, the villagers decide to have the village fool, Ipu, take the blame, leading to a war comedy filled with laughter and tears.
