Steve (played by Bill Murray) is a marine documentary director whose works have once painted the childhoods of many children with dreamy colors. During a shoot, Steve's old friend is killed by a tiger shark, which deeply impacts him. He vows to find the tiger shark for revenge and make it the subject of his new film. At a press conference, Steve meets a young man named Ned (played by Owen Wilson), who claims to be his son, and invites him to join his creative team. Steve faces numerous challenges, including a lack of funding, issues in his marriage, and the declining appeal of the documentaries he makes. A journalist named Jane (played by Cate Blanchett) joins Steve's team to write a personal biography about him; however, her relationship with Steve is not harmonious, and she grows closer to Ned, which makes Steve extremely jealous. At the same time, Ned's true identity raises suspicions in Steve. The arrival of a group of pirates completely derails Steve's plans, and a crew member is kidnapped. Faced with such dire circumstances, can the battle-hardened Steve carry out his revenge plan?
