Adapted from Graham Swift's novel of the same name. Set in 1924, the Niven couple (Colin Firth, Olivia Colman) attends an engagement lunch for their neighbor's son Paul (Josh O'Connor) and Emma (Emma D'Arcy). The Niven family's maid Jane (Odessa Young) gets to take the day off to celebrate Mother's Day, feeling delighted about her freedom. For nearly seven years, she has been Paul’s lover without any shame. This time, they finally get to meet in Paul’s bedroom for the first time, and today will be their last meeting as lovers.
