Kerry Ann (Annette Bening) became pregnant and gave birth at the young age of fourteen. Afterward, in her youthful ignorance, she gave up her parental rights, and over thirty years passed in the blink of an eye. Now, the weight of that little infant has grown heavier in Kerry Ann's heart, and she thinks of her constantly. Elizabeth (Naomi Watts) is beautiful and sexy, seamlessly transitioning between different men. Longing for freedom, she never thought that having a child would hinder her progress, so she opted for a sterilization procedure early on. However, an unexpected event places her in a difficult position where she must choose. Lucy (Kerry Washington) has been married for many years but has no children. Eager for a child, Lucy decides to adopt, but this is no easy task. Finally, Lucy gets a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Will she be able to realize her wish this time? A child connects three women with utterly different identities and personalities. Through ups and downs and sadness, each one discovers what is most precious in their lives.
