The movie features two parallel storylines. The first storyline follows Devi (played by Richa Chadha), who encounters a police raid while renting a room with a young man. The young man commits suicide, leading to her father, Patak (played by Sanjay Mishra), being blackmailed by a corrupt police officer, forcing Devi to leave her home. The second storyline revolves around Deepak (played by Vikrant Massey), whose family comes from a low-caste background in the cremation business. He deeply loves a high-caste girl, Shalu (played by Sweta Tripathi), but an accident pushes him into despair. Ultimately, the two storylines converge on the banks of the Ganges. The social contradictions and the helplessness of life unfold like a scroll, plain yet profoundly touching.
