In 1375, during the transition from the Yuan to the Ming dynasty in China, Goryeo also experienced internal turmoil, and an envoy of the Ming dynasty was killed by Goryeo. That year, a Goryeo delegation, led by General Choi Jeong (played by Zhu Zhenmo) and Governor of the Provincial Army (played by Ahn Seong-gi), was sent to the Ming dynasty but was detained by border officials who mistook them for revenge-seeking Ming envoys and exiled them to the desert. The delegation encountered an attack from a Mongolian faction in the desert and unexpectedly gained their freedom. On their way back to Goryeo, they encountered the Ming princess Furong (played by Zhang Ziyi), who had been captured by General Rahamu of Mongolia (played by Yu Rongguang). Choi Jeong decided to rescue Princess Furong to travel south to Nanjing and fulfill the delegation's mission.
