Lin Yixin (played by Zhu Haibin) and his family run a small grocery store in Shantou, and he and his sister are both in middle school. He studies at Jinshan Middle School in Shantou, where he has a childhood crush on his classmate Liang Mengjie (played by Lu Qian). Originally, Mengjie planned to attend Sun Yat-sen University, and Yixin followed suit by applying there as well. However, Mengjie ended up going to a university in Hangzhou, while only Yixin attended Sun Yat-sen University. In college, they continued to correspond, even though Mengjie also had a boyfriend. Yixin (played by Wu Qilei) was selected to perform in the play "Secret Love in Peach Blossom Land," and his partner was the charming girl Su Xinrui (played by Yang Jie) from Suzhou. As the rehearsals went on day after day, Xinrui developed feelings for Yixin.
