During the Sino-Japanese War in 1941, Tong Gang, the captain of the puppet Manchukuo gendarmerie, had an affair with Matsui's mistress, Xiao Juan. When Matsui, a lieutenant in the Japanese Kwantung Army, caught them, a struggle ensued, resulting in the accidental killing of Matsui. Wounded, Tong Gang abandoned his position and fled but fell into a coma after sustaining severe injuries. He was rescued by the hunter Sun Laotou and his daughter Sun Tiemei. Sun Tiemei had secretly been in a relationship with her childhood sweetheart, Wang Huzhu. During an ambush on a puppet Manchukuo transport convoy, Sun Laotou was shot and fell unconscious. Wang Hu discovered Tong Gang's identity, and while Wang Hu tried to rescue Sun Laotou, Tong Gang secretly shot Wang Hu and other anti-Japanese fighters... Behind the Scenes This film, starring the famous adult film actress Shu Qi, is set against the backdrop of the wartime period and was directed by Ye Hongwei, known as the standard-bearer of the second generation of Taiwanese cinema, who also directed Ai Jing's debut film "Five Girls and a Rope". The film is framed with a historical setting that should possess a rich artistic quality, but it unexpectedly breaks this mold and veers into commercial territory, showing distinct influences from Hong Kong films. Shu Qi's full nudity performance was touted as a commercial selling point, and her vigorous portrayal also garnered her some acclaim and nominations at film festivals.
