The film tells the hilarious yet tear-jerking story of two small characters, Erbao and Sanbao, who accidentally participated in an anti-Japanese drama and traveled from a rural area in Shaanxi to Guangzhou in search of the production team. Erbao (played by Li Lubing), who aspires to become the world's gambling king, and Sanbao (played by Chai Lu), who idolizes Stephen Chow, find themselves in Guangzhou looking for the crew after their unexpected participation. Upon arriving in Guangzhou, they run into Xiao Wen and Niuniu, who work at a bird's nest shop, and develop feelings for each other during their interactions. Erbao, originally making a living through schemes, accidentally gets involved in a bet with the con artist Jia Jia (played by Jia Xuming), which inadvertently leads to a gambling showdown planned by Fei Xue (played by Lin Xue) and Huo Niao (played by Liu Xuhui) due to gang rivalries, masked by the film crew. Ultimately, a series of conspiracies gradually come to light, allowing Erbao and Sanbao to unexpectedly fulfill their dreams. The film showcases the resilience and persistence of ordinary characters, prompting deep reflection while reinforcing Stephen Chow's life philosophy that "if one has no dreams, what's the difference from a salted fish."
