Nine-year-old Phoebe (Elle Fanning) joins her school drama club and takes on the lead role of Alice in "Alice in Wonderland." The drama teacher, Miss Dodgson (Patricia Clarkson), praises Phoebe highly. However, outside the drama club, Phoebe faces numerous issues, often getting into trouble for spitting at classmates and struggling to control her behavior.
