During World War II, the Allies struggled to decipher Germany's secret system "Enigma." The government gathered a group of civilian mathematicians and logicians to work on the secret decryption, among them was Turing (played by Benedict Cumberbatch). At the beginning of the project, Turing faced rejection from team members and leaders led by Hughes (Matthew Goode), but fortunately, the head of military intelligence, Menzies (Mark Strong), helped him establish a project to research a machine to decode the messages. Turing became the lead and recruited new member Joan (Keira Knightley) to begin the difficult work. Joan quickly became infatuated with Turing, and with her help, the team united as never before and successfully cracked the German codes two years later. Turing briefly got engaged to Joan, but in reality, he was hiding a secret that led to inhumane treatment... This film is adapted from Andrew Hodges's "Alan Turing: The Enigma" and won the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay at the 87th Oscars.
