Xi Rong (played by Li Zi Xiong), A B (played by Tony Leung), and Hui Zai (played by Jacky Cheung) grew up together in the steep areas of Shek Tseng. The three share a brotherly bond, and although each of them comes from a poor background, their youthful hearts never lose the fantasy and longing for the future. A B needs money to marry his girlfriend Xiao Zhen (played by Yuen Kwei Ying), so everyone comes up with various schemes to raise funds for him. Hui Zai borrows loan shark money but gets robbed on the way, and he ends up injured on the way to the wedding. Afterwards, A B and Hui Zai seek revenge but accidentally kill Fei Qiang, leading Xi Rong and the others to flee to Vietnam. At that time, the mayor of Saigon is both lenient and strict, making it hell for them. They also encounter the Viet Cong assassinating Vietnamese officials, so Xi Rong decides to make a desperate effort to earn some money before leaving Vietnam. Xi Rong's distant relative, A Le (played by Simon Yam), is a professional hitman. A Le learns that the Vietnamese bully Leung Yuen Sheng is involved in gold transactions at a nightclub, so he and his team work together to steal the gold after a fierce battle. A B nearly loses his life trying to save a Hong Kong singing star, Chen Xiu Qing… Wu Yusen's ambitious work during his peak period explores the themes of love and loyalty with depth, and the action scenes are explosive and impressive. It is a rare gem among Hong Kong films.
