Jim McAllister (Matthew Broderick) is a teacher at Carver High School. He teaches with rigor and enthusiasm, is easygoing and friendly, and has been awarded the title of Outstanding Teacher three times, making him popular among students. In his class, there is a girl named Tracy Flick (Reese Witherspoon). Tracy is proud, confident, ambitious, and actively participates in school clubs both inside and outside of school. She is fully confident in running for student body president, facing few competitors. For various reasons, Jim becomes dissatisfied with Tracy's actions and gets involved in the fierce election battle at Carver High School...
