In the exciting national tournament, Chihaya Ayase (played by Suzu Hirose) misses the chance to battle against Queen Shinobu Wakamiya (played by Mayu Matsuoka) and vows to defeat the queen the following year. At the same time, the everlasting titleholder, Hisashi Suo (played by Kento Kaku), overcomes Teacher Harada (played by Jun Kunimura), and his outstanding performance reignites Arata Wataya's (played by Mackenyu) passion for Karuta. After this, Arata confesses his feelings to Chihaya, and they both actively prepare for the upcoming national tournament at their respective schools. Now in their third year, Chihaya and the club members recruit new members, while Taichi Mashima (played by Shuuhei Nomura), after learning about the new confession, seems to lose his passion for Karuta and subsequently misses the crucial Tokyo qualifiers. Slowly realizing his true feelings, Taichi gains Suo's recognition and is able to learn from him. Young individuals, each with their own concerns, strive towards the new year's sacred venue...
