Pierre Lachenay (played by Jean Desailly) is a married writer and magazine editor who becomes attracted to the beautiful flight attendant Nicole (played by Françoise Dorléac) during a business trip. Coincidentally, the two meet at the same hotel. Pierre invites Nicole out for drinks, and they talk all night, soon falling deeply in love. As Pierre prepares to return to Paris, Nicole leaves her phone number in his notebook. Back home, Pierre secretly contacts Nicole without letting his wife Franca (played by Nelly Benedetti) know.
