Based on a true story, it focuses on a team of American engineers and designers led by car designer Carroll Shelby, along with his British driver Ken Miles. Henry Ford II tasked Shelby with building a brand new racing car in hopes of defeating the long-dominant Ferrari at the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans. Ultimately, the Ford GT40 successfully defeated Ferrari in the Le Mans 24-hour endurance race and went on to win the championships in 1967 and 1968.
