Yang Xiong (played by Chunyu Shanshan) works at the Jizhou prison and is sworn brothers with Shi Xiu (played by Meng Fei), who runs a meat shop. Due to his busy work, Yang rarely returns home, while his wife Qiao Yun (played by Wen Bixia) is unfaithful and sets her sights on her brother-in-law Shi Xiu. However, Shi Xiu firmly rejects her advances, knowing the importance of propriety and integrity. Unable to bear her loneliness, Qiao Yun takes advantage of the incense-burning occasion to have an affair with the temple monk Pei Ruhai (played by Tan Qiao).
