Of course, during the peaceful times, Kotaro finds himself without a purpose, wandering in Edo for a long time without finding work. Now, Kotaro has committed himself to his hometown, the Kaga domain, where he has to endure various sarcastic remarks from his mother-in-law (played by Hana Kino). One day, his mother-in-law helps him find a job as a kendo instructor in the Tosa domain of Shikoku. Though the journey is long, it allows him to earn some pocket money and escape the strong presence of his mother-in-law. Thus, Kotaro sets off for the southern island with Tamanojō. However, this journey is fraught with difficulties; halfway there, Kotaro's luggage is stolen by a mysterious ninja (played by Hōka Kinoshita). It turns out this was a premeditated scheme by his mother-in-law to force Kotaro to divorce her daughter, Aki (played by Megumi Yokoyama). Despite this, Kotaro boards a small boat to Tosa. He endures hunger and storms, overcoming many challenges until he finally reaches his destination. However, what awaits him is unimaginable trials and adventures...
