In southwest China, there's a village isolated from the world, surrounded by mountains, where everyone lives a long life and has their own customs. During the Qing Dynasty, the emperor bestowed the name "Longevity Town." One day, an infectious disease suddenly breaks out, and the local officials send a doctor (played by Donnie Yen) to treat it. Outside the town, he discovers an ailing Niu Jieshi (played by Huang Bo). Upon entering the village, the previously kind-hearted villagers behave unusually, refusing to help Niu Jieshi and avoiding him as if he were plague-ridden. They even turn their anger on the doctor for meddling. The old town leader (played by Ma Jingwu) personally leads the town's doctor (played by Su Youpeng), a midwife (played by Liang Jing), a painter, and the old clan leader to thwart the doctor's attempts to save Niu Jieshi. Unfortunately, Niu Jieshi ultimately cannot be saved, and the doctor cannot find a cause for his sudden death. The townspeople's unwelcoming and uncooperative attitude deeply frustrates the doctor. Just as he prepares to leave, he inadvertently discovers a secret hidden by the entire town on a cliff. Filled with doubt, the doctor decides to secretly investigate Longevity Town, and it is only when he encounters a boy that the truth behind the mystery of Longevity Town begins to unfold... This film is adapted from Chen Tiejun's novella "Child's Play Murder."
