Einar (Robert Redford) has a sorrowful past; a car accident took the life of his son Griffin (Trevor Moss), and the cause of that accident was none other than his daughter-in-law Jane (Jennifer Lopez). Angry and unable to forgive Jane for her mistake, she has no choice but to leave with her unborn child. Now, Einar lives on a ranch in Wyoming, where, in addition to grazing cattle, he also takes on the responsibility of caring for his old friend Mitch (Morgan Freeman), who has been injured by a bear.
