Batman (George Clooney) and Robin (Chris O'Donnell) face their greatest challenge yet: "Mr. Freeze" (Arnold Schwarzenegger)! Mr. Freeze was once a scientific genius, but a tragic accident has left him reliant on cryogenic technology to survive. To make matters worse, unless he can keep the temperature in Gotham City below freezing, his beloved wife will remain in a coma forever. Mr. Freeze begins to build his frozen empire, and Batman stands in his way, making him a target for elimination. Robin gradually becomes Batman's trusted partner, and together they foil Mr. Freeze's various schemes. However, the arrival of the alluring "Poison Ivy" (Uma Thurman) brings a crisis to the relationship between Robin and Batman: Poison Ivy uses Robin's feelings for her to set traps that foster distrust between the two heroes.
