In the desolate Australian outback, a long, straight, empty highway sets the scene for a distanced father-son relationship on the road. The father, Kevin (Hugo Weaving), a violent and disheveled middle-aged man, embarks on a desperate journey with his ten-year-old son Chuck (Tom Russell). To escape a criminal incident, Kevin takes a risky path of guilty flight. Amidst the lonely and desolate deserts and plains of Australia, the two must not only fight against all unknown factors to survive but also confront their often close yet conflicting father-son relationship. Faced with life-and-death dilemmas, they are heading towards an uncertain tomorrow. The film "The Last Journey," directed by Grandi Even, is adapted from a novel that won the Australian literary prize.
