Maria (played by Dakota Blue Richards) inherits a hefty debt from her father, who passed away, leaving her a thick ancient book titled "The History of Moon Meadow," which tells the fairy tale of the Moon Princess and the white horse. At thirteen, Maria becomes an orphan and goes to live with her uncle Benjamin (played by Ioan Gruffudd) at Moon Meadow Manor. However, shortly after moving into the ancient castle, strange occurrences begin to unfold: her belongings are constantly misplaced, the piano in the house plays by itself, and at night, a shadow of a white horse roams outside... Her uncle reveals nothing about these mysteries, so Maria secretly reads the ancient book that her uncle has hidden away, eventually uncovering a long-lost mystery and grudge tied to Moon Meadow. It turns out that the entire valley has been under the Moon Princess's curse for a century, and only the arrival of a person with a pure heart can break it... This film is adapted from the classic novel "The Moon Princess in the Castle" by British children's author Elizabeth Goudge.
