Hannibal (Gaspard Ulliel) had a bright and warm childhood, with his lovely sister as his little shadow, his most beloved relative. However, war took everything away: his father, mother, and home. But this was just the beginning of a nightmare; what truly ruined his life was the death of his sister—the cruel German soldiers had eaten her. The death of his sister became Hannibal's eternal nightmare; her face and voice often appeared in his dreams. Hannibal decided to search for his last relative, his uncle's wife, a mysterious Eastern woman, Madame Liu (Gong Li). Madame Liu taught Hannibal the art of combat and introduced him to the essence of the Eastern raw food culture. Hannibal seemed to have found an exit from the shadows of his childhood; he began to kill and eat, seeking temporary peace for his soul amidst the bloodshed. The enemies responsible for his sister's death met tragic ends one after another. Gradually, a subtle affection developed between Hannibal and Madame Liu, but at this point, what was left for the deeply mired young Hannibal to love?
