Nearly 30-year-old girl Xiao Yu (played by Papi Jiang) finds herself struggling after being fired and having her roommate suddenly announce she’s moving in with her boyfriend. She moves into a shabby rental outside the Fifth Ring, marking her ninth move in this big city. Facing financial pressures, Xiao Yu decides to check out opportunities in a film crew and rents her house short-term to a similarly down-and-out singer, Ji Ye (played by Zhang Chao). However, Xiao Yu is soon laid off from the film crew and has to return to Beijing early, but Ji Ye’s lease isn’t up, so she unexpectedly becomes a couch surfer.
