Zhao Zilong (Yuan Biao) and Wu Guidé (Zeng Zhiwei) are close friends who talk about everything, while their fathers have vastly different identities: one is a fortune teller and the other a soul collector. This stark contrast often leads to amusing situations. One day, Wu Guidé steps in for Zhao Zilong in a dramatic suicide act, resulting in an accident. Fortunately, Zhao Zilong’s father prevents the soul collector from taking Wu Guidé's spirit; otherwise, Wu Guidé would have been lost. Wu Guidé comes back to life, and Zhao Zilong ends up in a relationship with a girl named A Le. In this peaceful atmosphere, Zhao Zilong's father discovers that his actions have angered other soul collectors, leading to his tragic demise. After his father's death, Zhao Zilong, under the influence of fate, begins to collect souls. It turns out that the position of soul collector is passed down through generations, and when one dies, the next generation must take their place. To save Zhao Zilong from this tragic fate, Wu Guidé's father engages in a fierce battle with the soul collector.
